Self-Doubts & Limiting Beliefs, Recipe For Self-Sabotage
Self-doubt is a sneaky B****!
It creeps up on ya when you think you are better than that… Well, hello there reality check!
Happened to me at the onset of this ‘new normal’, when we’d all get on zoom calls with friends and swap stories for hours across time zones.
On that first call, I was like, wow, you all are making great changes to your current lifestyle, but honestly, not much has changed for us in our household except V isn’t going to the office, A isn’t going to school, and I see both their faces 24/7.
While that didn’t bother me that late Saturday night, it was the only thing that was on my head most of Sunday.
I was like, ‘damn, are V & I doing it all wrong?
Friends are waking up late, cooking more, working out, playing more with kids, sneaking in more hugs and kisses, etc, but things have only got busier for us.
Are we not making the most of these unusual times?’
That question truly messed with me until I jumped in the shower later that day and finally, the light bulb went off!
My inner voice —
‘Kusum, you fool, your lives haven’t changed much now because V & you have both worked all these years to create this life you have/like/love, a life that serves your and your family’s best interests, at.all.times!
I mean, are you by default spending more time with A? Of course!
Do YOU want to wake up late? HELL NO!
You always cook, you both mostly eat healthy, work out, etc.
You are an entrepreneur, things completely changed for your business, you had to come up with Plan B & Plan C and work even harder, while your friends have secure corporate jobs and don’t have the same worries as you.
V’s work has always been demanding & with him taking on a new role things only got busier
And then there is A’s explosive energy.
So get over it already’
That moment, my self-doubt quickly vanished and my confident proud self reappeared!
I don’t typically compare my/our lives to others. I ward off any self-doubts by addressing them right away because I know what is truly important to V & me. And hence I am only focused on how we can better ourselves, individually and together!
My friends’ lifestyles are their own!
BIGGEST ‘aha’ moment!
As @jayshetty says, you consistently need to feed and nourish your mind (and soul) just the way you feed your body.
Know your values and worth, and do NOT let anyone, even your own self-doubts and limiting beliefs question you and your life choices?
They are both recipe for self-sabotage!
