TOP 10 FEBRUARY FAVORITE PRODUCT FINDS – BED, MOBILE APP, TV SHOW, KITCHEN PRODUCT, BOOKS, FOOD, ETC.
MAKING LIFE EASIER ONE FUNCTIONAL PRODUCT AT A TIME…
February came as fast as it went, including the extra leap year day!
We spent the month celebrating all things love (Valentine’s Day, our Anniversary) and eating our way through the month, including during our travels to Phoenix and Scottsdale (more on that coming soon, so I will cut to the chase and get straight to my favorite finds in this post)!
On that note, let’s quickly recap…
TOP 10 FEBRUARY FAVORITE PRODUCT FINDS
1) ROSALYN CRYSTAL TUFTED BED
If you have been around my Instagram and/or blog for a while then you very well know that I have looked high and low to find a bed that both Vinay and I love for our master bedroom.
And we have had very minimal luck with it in the last 2.5 years, either the bed we both liked would be too expensive or every single bed that came close to what we had in mind fell short of one expectation or another.
So the search continued, but this past Thanksgiving we finally got lucky and found a bed that we both absolutely love! And that too at a store I least expected (though it’s a retailer that I absolutely love and shop at all.the.time)!
But that wasn’t quite it, a few things went wrong along the way (more about that later) and we finally put our bed together in February, and our master bedroom is slowly but surely coming together. It only took us 2.5 years you guys, ONLY 2.5, LOL! Stay tuned for a big master bedroom reveal real soon…
2) HOT YOGA
70-75 F temperature is my sweet spot and hot weather is totally not my jam, anything beyond 80 F and I am melting, and I hate that feeling! So I wasn’t ever interested in trying hot yoga because putting up with that kind of heat and doing yoga at the same time was never really appealing to me.
But as with all things in life, I love to push the boundaries and test my limits. And since January, I have been trying to be more regular with my workouts and thrilled to announce that I have kept up with it. Not only that but I have also been trying different kinds of workouts, hot yoga being one of them.
As much as I hate the heat, it is safe to say that I am loving hot yoga and it’s several benefits! Of course, I am kinda sorta dead by the time I am done with the class, but that’s the kind of thing that I get a high from, so I keep going back for more (if you know what I mean) 😉
I will be sure to share a detailed blog post on my hot yoga experience, so stay tuned…
3) PLEATED SKIRT
I am a sucker for long flowy skirts and I am quite certain that you have already seen me flaunt this gorgeous pleated maxi green skirt a number of times now (see here). I can’t believe that I missed talking (exclusively) about it in my previous favorite finds blog posts.
So here you go, I cannot rave enough about this pleated maxi skirt and just how much I love it! The chiffon fabric is perfect and it is not see-through at all (be vary of the color you choose though, you might have a different experience if you buy lighter colors). And you can style it a dozen different ways!
The skirt flows with me (read dances with me, which I quite literally did in the middle of a busy store as we shot some photos ;)) and makes me feel like a million bucks. I did get a ton of compliments and everyone around wanted to know where I bought it from? Duh, I think you already know the answer to that question, don’t you!? 😉
4) UDUPI FROZEN MASALA DOSA
Now this one I cannot take any credit for… Being South Indians, we love our masala dosas (South Indian crepes made from rice and urad dhal and stuffed with potato masala)!!
We mostly make them at home or opt to go out and savor some at one of our favorite restaurants (one where they actually know how to get the masala dosa right!). So I never wanted to try frozen masala dosa, I mean, how does that even remotely compare to the real deal?
Wrong! When we were in New York during the holidays and spent a few days at our friends (North Indians, I mention that because they don’t typically make dosas from scratch like us South Indians do). The thoughtful planner that our friend is, she had stocked up her freezer with these Udupi Frozen Masala Dosas and we were in for a real treat! #yummyinmytummy
I couldn’t believe how tasty these frozen dosas are, now I too have a stock of these in our freezer! Believe you me, I am very picky about what frozen food makes its way into our freezer as I am not one for frozen foods (and all the preservatives). But these frozen masala dosas get a free pass!
And, you can always trust the Udupi brand to always do justice to South Indian flavors!
5) KITCHEN KNIFE SET
Speaking of food, I am extremely partial to my teeny-tiny kitchen knife (mine is from India) that I have been using for close to a decade now! It is the tiniest kitchen tool ever and does a phenomenal job!. And in all these years not once have I had to sharpen it.
That knife I bought in India and cost me less than a dollar, no kidding! I see similar versions here in the US at the Indian stores and also on our trusted site.
But that isn’t the knife I am here to talk about today. Given how much a part of my kitchen that teeny-tiny knife is, I never wanted to give any other expensive popular knives or knife sets a shot.
I just happened to see these colorful knives during the holidays and was curious to see what the hype was all about. So I ordered them, used them and now I really like them. As much as I feel guilty of using these new knives (almost feels as if I am cheating on my favorite tiny knife) I think they are one of the most inexpensive sharp knives sets out there and I ought to tell you all about it.
6) EPISODES TV SHOW
Vinay is the one who got me hooked onto the Episodes TV Show! It is hard for me to watch any of the Friends TV show characters (except Jennifer Aniston of course) in any other shows other than Friends (if you know what I mean).
So I couldn’t care less about this show as Vinay one random day played an episode of the Episodes show 😉 But the characters and the funny lines immediately caught my attention, especially Beverly and Sean. I couldn’t care less about Joey (i.e. Matt LeBlanc, though he is my ‘Friends’ favorite), he is a total A** in the show, as in his character is.
Episodes, “A TV-industry satire following a British couple who come to the States to produce a sitcom based on their hit UK program, only to find that the new series is to be radically Americanized.”
If you want a fun show to play in the background while you cook then add this show to your watchlist!
7) KEYCHAIN BRACELET
I do not know how I managed without the keychain bracelet until I bought one late last year!?
Actually, I know how, by bringing my house keys, car keys and just two cards (driver’s license and a credit card) separately as I stepped out of the house to drop off and pick up my little one. It’s a miracle that I did not lose any of them, no wait, that’s not true, I did lose my drivers license one time when I went out for a run 🙁
So yes, this oversized keychain bracelet has been a godsend, neither do I have to shuffle through my entire handbag to look for my house or car keys nor do I have to loosely carry my keys and two cards during school picks up and drop-offs or when I have to run quick errands (cuz I don’t like to carry my purse and the 415032 things in it at all times).
This keychain bracelet easily slips onto the wrist or can be attached to the bag. If you don’t care for the cardholder you can either remove it or get one without it.
8) LIBBY APP
Have I been living under a rock? Like seriously? How did I not know about this app until another blogger (Rachel Teodoro) recently told me about it!?
“Libby is a free app where you can borrow ebooks and digital audiobooks from your public library. You can stream books with Wi-Fi or mobile data, or download them for offline use and read anytime, anywhere. All you need to get started is a library card.”
You can sign in to multiple libraries on the Libby App, with one or more cards for each library.
Total game changer!!!
Up until I found out about the Libby app I would read books on this other app I talk about in this blog post. Now I save approximately $15 a month, plus, I get to read as many books as I want, all for free!
Thanks to the Libby app (and of course, Rachel), I read FOUR books in February! I mean, what is happening!? 😮
9) YOU ARE A BADASS
Speaking of books, and of those four books I read in February, the #1 New York Times Bestseller You Are A Badass is one of them!
The more books I read the more I realize that lately, self-improvement books are my jam! This actually stems from the fact that I am always and forever striving to learn and grow and improve our lives (i.e mine as well as my families).
So I tend to gravitate towards books that aren’t just mere stories but have some good takeaways in them. And You Are A Badass is one such book!
Not that Jen Sincero, the author of the book shares anything new that I didn’t already know (happens when one reads as many self-improvement books as I have in just the last one year) but I like her way of delivering the message through 27 bite-sized chapters consisting of hilariously inspiring stories.
“When you’re vibrating at a high frequency, awesome things seem to flow to you effortlessly and you seem to stumble over the perfect people and opportunities all the time (and vice versa).”
10) SUGAR FACTORY
Given how much Vinay and I travel, I am quite surprised that we had never been to any Sugar Factory locations until this past Valentine’s Day (when they hosted us for dinner)!
“With locations in some of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities, including Las Vegas, New York City, Bahrain, Chicago, Miami and Orlando, Sugar Factory is known the world over for its celebrity-endorsed Couture Pops, which have turned sweets into the latest designer accessory.”
Sugar Factory is popular for their goblet drinks which were surely fun to watch (as they pour the drink into the goblet) and drink, but we also liked their other drinks such as the chocolate flavored martinis (duh!) and our little one’s milkshake.
Their milkshake is a whole other level and I would totally go in just to grab another one of those rich and tasty milkshakes, #holyyum. If you have never been to a Sugar Factory and tried their shakes then you are totally missing out!
On that note, March, here we come and we got this!
“Push yourself because no one else is going to do it for you”
xoxo,
Kusum
