And the FASTer Way to Fat Loss Program is also not one to deprive you of eating anything you want (read carbs or occasional sweet treats). Because (at least as far as I am concerned) diets that are restrictive are not sustainable and won’t work in the long run.
I went through the FASTer Way to Fat Loss Program back in May 2019. So this post has been a long time coming and I have included a ton of important information, and hence it is obviously quite lengthy.
If your first question is WHY SHOULD I JOIN THE FASTER WAY TO FAT LOSS PROGRAM?
If you are serious about your health and wellness goals then stay here for a while and carefully read through the entire post so you can make an educated decision if the FASTer Way to Fat Loss Program is for you or not!
A little backstory – I had heard about the FASTer Way to Fat Loss program several times but every time I heard about it I dismissed it, cuz I am not one for any kind of ‘dieting’.
Myth #1 Busted – FASTer Way to Fat Loss Program is NOT yet another diet program!
My mantra has always been (in my ideal world) to eat healthily 80% of the time, eat whatever you crave the other 20% of the time, workout, be fit, and live happily!
So the words that are the name of the program was a BIG TURN OFF for me – FASTer Way to Fat Loss. I NEVER believe in anything that says it will give you FAST results, because, neither is fast healthy nor is it sustainable! And FAT LOSS – don’t even get me started on that one, because, again, I like programs that focus on healthy living rather than exclusively promote fat loss.
Myth #2 Busted – FASTer does NOT mean that the program is saying it will get you FAST results, but it is called the FASTer Way because the foundational strategy of the program is intermittent FASTing (will get into its details in just a little bit).
Myth #3 Busted – The FASTer Way to Fat Loss Program DOES focus on healthy eating and a physically active lifestyle, and is not necessarily only catered towards FAT loss (though that is a big bonus that comes with it). Again, you will see why and how as you read through the rest of this post.
OK, so all fair points and my myths about the FWTFL program were busted. But, I was still SUPER SKEPTICAL and yet signed up for the FASTer Way to Fat Loss program. Read more here to learn why I signed up?
WHAT IS THE FASTER WAY TO FAT LOSS PROGRAM?
The FASTer Way to Fat Loss is a nutrition and fitness program that focuses on intermittent fasting, carb cycling, and macro tracking. I know, I know, this might sound like a different language to most (it did to me when I had first heard those words and had no idea what each of them meant).
But hold on just a little longer, I will get into every detail soon.

Each FASTer Way to Fat Loss round is a 6-week program.
WHAT IS INTERMITTENT FASTING?
Intermittent Fasting (IF) is essentially a pattern of eating in which you fast for a certain number of hours in a day and eat during the remaining hours of the day (i.e. you consume all your meals within that duration). I will exclusively share more about IF and its benefits in a separate post.
In the FASTer Way to Fat Loss program, you follow a 16/8 intermittent fasting protocol (as explained below).
Meaning, every day you fast for 16 hours (most of which is overnight while you are sleeping), during these 16 hours you can still have water, tea, and coffee (but anything you add to it i.e. milk, creamer, sugar should all add up to under 50 calories) and consume all your meals (daily caloric requirements i.e. all your macros) during an 8-hour feeding window.
You can totally choose a 16:8 window that works best for you and your schedule. Most people fast from 8 pm – 12 pm (or 9 pm – 1 pm) and eat from 12 pm – 8 pm (1 pm – 9 pm).
People who follow the 8 pm – 12 pm window mostly skip breakfast and split all their macros between lunch, dinner, and snacks.
But my cycle, on the other hand, looks a little different – I have my last meal by 7 pm, ‘break my fast’ i.e. have my first meal the following day at 11 am and consume all my macros/calories before 7 pm. This works best for me because I am an early sleeper and early riser so my body has at least 3 hrs to digest most of the food I had for dinner before I hit the sack.
With the 7 pm – 11 am fasting window I still get to eat 3 big meals a day i.e breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus snacks.
That is the best thing about the FASTer Way to Fat Loss Program, as long as you follow the basic guidelines you have enough flexibility to switch things around and make it work for you.
WHAT IS CARB CYCLING?
‘Carb cycling means that you cycle between low carb days and regular carb days to ensure that your body burns fat effectively without causing significant hormonal damage or dips in energy.
Carb cycling is basically altering your carbohydrate intake to prevent fat loss plateaus and to keep your metabolism working effectively.
As part of the FASTer Way to Fat Loss program, workouts are strategically paired with carb intake. Thus turning your body into a fat burner as opposed to a sugar burner, and provides you with enough fuel to keep your energy levels up for tough strength training workouts.’

WHAT ARE MACROS?
Macronutrients (or macros) are the molecules our bodies need to grow and be active. Macronutrients are broken down into three basic categories: carbohydrates, protein, and fat.
As part of the FASTer Way to Fat Loss program, you learn how to track macros and eat the right macronutrients at the right time.
Every week during the program, there are regular macro days (typically 50% carbs, 30% fat, 20% protein) and low macro days.
HOW DOES THE FITNESS ASPECT OF THE FASTER WAY TO FAT LOSS PROGRAM WORK?
The FASTer Way to Fat Loss program is designed in such a way that it strategically pairs the workouts to your nutrition to help you achieve the maximum results. This way you burn FAT while gaining muscle.
You get workout guides and videos for beginners, advanced, at home, and gym workouts. So you can choose the workout that best suits you and your lifestyle and run with it (pun intended ;)).
They say it is best to do the workouts during the fasted period, but for some people, it’s hard to do so. Either due to their schedule or because they need to fuel their bodies before they exercise.
So the program encourages you to workout whenever you can/want based on what suits you and your schedule best.
But if you are not one to workout or do not want to workout then according to the program, you can just focus on the nutrition aspect of FWTFL. I have heard that quite a lot of people have seen great results without ever working out during the entire FASTer Way to Fat Loss program.
Though, I’d think that the results might not be the same. I mean, it’s common sense.
Plus, personally for me, working out and being physically active is quite important to be fit and healthy.
6 WEEKS IS A LONG TIME, HOW CAN YOU BE CONSISTENT AND STAY MOTIVATED?
This is one of the biggest problems we all face. We all start off super strong and we are full of enthusiasm when we start something new but as the weeks go by we slowly start to lose steam.
My advice is to take it one day at a time and track your progress week over week. When you start to see those results it will automatically motivate you to do better the next week.
And even if you can’t give it your 100% do your best and instead of giving up when you falter just get right back into it the next day. It’s totally ok to have off days and sway on those macro goals. That is not the end of the world!
Plus, your coach and the people in your Facebook group, i.e. the ones just like you who are doing the FWTFL program with you will keep you accountable and cheer you on to do better every day.
Post your questions, concerns, and wins (even fails) in the Facebook group, no one will judge you but will jump to offer you their 2 cents and help you.
Also, if you slip up on one of the days and would like to make up for it another day during the week then you can totally do so, just swap your days. That is as long as you still stick to the same nutrition and workout goals for the day and the overarching guideline for the entire week.
Remember, FWTFL strongly encourages progress over perfection!
During the 6 weeks, I missed meeting my nutrition and workout goals on a handful of days. But instead of beating myself up and feeling terrible about it, I just went right back to it as soon as I could.
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST CONCERN BEFORE JOINING THE FWTFL PROGRAM?
My biggest concern was that I am a vegetarian and it is hard to follow the standard meal plan they recommend in the FWTFL program. So I had major doubts about the nutrition aspect before I joined the FASTer Way to Fat Loss program. But I quickly learned that it is totally doable.
Plus, my coach Alex McCune also helped by sharing a vegetarian meal plan.
You do not have to stick to their recommended meal plan, it is available at your disposal just as a guideline to help you get started.
And even if you are vegan the FASTer Way to Fat Loss program is still 100% doable!
Do you know what’s even better?
That I did NOT have to give up on eating cheese or dessert or pizza or wine during the FWTFL program. Told ya, the FWTFL program is not restrictive in that it does not say that you need to remove certain foods from your diet (aka lifestyle).
I will write another detailed post on how I planned my meals to meet all the nutrition goals and what I ate during the FASTer Way to Fat Loss program.
HOW DO YOU PREPARE BEFORE YOU BEGIN THE FASTER WAY TO FAT LOSS PROGRAM?
Not having the faintest clue about what any of these terms mean – carb cycling, macros, intermittent fasting, pairing workouts, etc, etc, joining the FASTer Way to Fat Loss program can feel quite overwhelming at first. And that is exactly why there is a ‘prep week’!
Even though the FASTer Way to Fat Loss program is only 6 weeks, you get a bonus week called the prep week right before you begin the 6-week program.
Each day during the prep week your coach will go over a specific concept that is part of the FWTFL program so that you are prepared and well equipped by the time you kick-off the program the following week.
You will learn how to count your macros, how to adjust your foods, what to eat and drink, how to modify something as needed, how to use the MyFitness Pal app, etc, etc.
It is certainly a learning curve but you will soon get the hang of it.

Setting yourself some goals and investing in yourself to achieve those goals is the best thing you can ever do for yourself! May it be taking a new course, joining the gym (as long as you make use of it) or getting on with the FWTFL program. You have just got to go for it!
