1. LOCATION
Choose a place in your home where you want to set up the hot chocolate station/bar. The set up could be a stand alone bar cart, on the kitchen counter/island, a coffee table by the fireplace, or even the dining table.
2. GATHER ESSENTIALS
Decide on the kind of hot chocolate flavors you want to serve. Include different kinds of snacks that are both holiday-themed and gel well with the theme of the party that you are hosting.
Hot Chocolate Essentials – hot cocoa powder (or make your own with cacao powder, sugar, flavored syrups), include various flavors (peppermint, white, dark, salted caramel, etc), marshmallows, cocoa cones, cocoa spoons, peppermint sprinklers/stirrers, cinnamon powder, gingerbread man cookie mug hangers.
Snack Ideas – cookies, pretzel crisps, peppermint anything, candy cane anything, popcorn (with nutritional yeast), macaroons, chocolate hazelnut crème-filled wafers, pretzel rods, etc.
Most importantly, serve the hot chocolate and snacks in holiday themed mugs and trays.
3. ADD TEXTURE
Use different heights (for example tiered trays, various serving trays, etc) to set up and include different textures/elements (various hot cocoa tins, snowflake marshmallows, hot cocoa spoons, other decor elements) to create a more visual effect.
4. SET-UP & DECORATE
Make the hot chocolate station a part of your holiday decor. Add in some holiday elements into the mix – bottle brush Christmas tree, small ornaments, cute holiday mugs, candles, poinsettias, twinkle lights, garlands, Christmas wall art, table runner, greenery, etc. More decor ideas and inspiration here.
5. CREATE WARM & COZY VIBES
Turn on the fireplace, switch on the lights, light the candles, lay down all your warm and cozy blankets, bring out those squishy holiday pillows, queue up your Christmas Movies for a movie marathon, and get the party started!
6. HOSTESS WITH THE MOSTESS
This one is totally optional. You can buy your guests a cute holiday mug, a pair of fuzzy warm socks/slippers, pajama set, candle, ornament, and/or a bag of snacks to bring home with them.
Now go on, set a date and send out those holiday party invites! Your party will be the one everyone will 10,000% want to come to. And don’t forget to send me an invite to your Hot Chocolate, Pajamas, and Christmas Movies Marathon party too 😉
