Just as black is an all-season color and makes for an excellent all-occasion outfit, a jumpsuit can (and should) be worn year round… From day to date-nights, from weekend to parties, from casual to formal affairs, a jumpsuit is insanely and infinitely versatile and hence a must have piece in every women’s wardrobe!
Jumpsuits are both playful and classy as well as comfortable and stylish. And as the temperatures are currently dropping all around the US and Europe, they make for an exceptional canvas to which you can add layers, accessories and style them to suit your personality and the season.
Tips to style a jumpsuit and wear it year round
- Wear it as-is, jumpsuits are available in so many fun prints, patterns and styles making it super easy to just throw on a jumpsuit and walk out the door in summer.
- Under a sleeveless jumpsuit wear a stylish off-the-shoulder top in spring or a turtleneck t-shirt in fall to look and feel trendy as well as warm.
- Throw on a jacket, sweater or a cardigan over the jumpsuit and put on your favorite boots or booties to keep yourself cozy and comfortable in winter.
- Add a belt for a well-defined and figure-flattering waist. From skinny to wide statement belts, styling jumpsuits with a belt can take the outfit to a whole other level.
- To make an ultimate fashion statement, adds pops of color 🙂 Not only does it make your outfit pop (of course), it also makes you stand out in a crowd. Think colorful bag, shoes and jewelry!
- Add dimension to the jumpsuit by pairing it with a fitted blazer, statement piece, scarf and heels and you will be ready in a jiffy to rock any formal occasion in a jumpsuit.
- Above all (oh dear god), do not buy a jumpsuit that is difficult to remove. You will only realize its value as you spend several minutes in the restroom (every single time) trying to get in and out of one (well, you know what I mean ;)).
And here’s how I styled a jumpsuit in summer and fall…
I wore this simple black deep v-neck, harem crotch jumpsuit back in summer with metallic accessories (bought this layered chain on my trip to Australia and the rest of the jewelry are from my Chloe and Isabel Boutique). I added pops of color with a baby blue handbag from Forever 21 (it’s one of my faves and was a perfect add to my bags collection to keep up with the Pantone colors of 2016, see here) and cobalt blue-gold pumps from ThredUp (these pumps added so much glamour to my white dress during a cherry blossom trip, see here).

Last weekend, since it’s a bit cold and chilly outside here in Seattle, I wore the same black jumpsuit with a soft red turtleneck top from Zara (a steal at $12!!). Styled with earrings from my Chloe and Isabel Boutique, chain from Kendra Scott, bangles from The Peach Box and statement ring from our very own (Seattle’s favorite) Love Lika Fashion! Zipped on my favorite black booties from Aldo and grabbed my new obsession from Oliver Bilou, this perfectly sized Mia handbag (perfect for all-seasons and all-occasions) as I headed to brunch with the hubs.

Told ya, you cannot go wrong with a jumpsuit when you pair it with the right accessories and layers!
While we are at it, tell me your favorite jumpsuit style – sleeveless, long sleeves, deep or high necklines, prints, patterns, knee-hitting hems or any other? And most importantly, do you wear jumpsuits in the fall and winter? If not, then you should definitely give it a try this year. It is so much fun styling a jumpsuit (you can thank me later)!
Thanks to Oliver Bilou for the handbag and The Peach Box for the bangles! As always, styling and all opinions here are unbiased and my own.
